Munster Junior B Camogie Semi Final

St. Flannan’s College and Colaiste Muire faced off in the Munster Junior B semi final on Friday and it took extra time to separate the sides. From the opening whistle, Colaiste set the tempo with 2 goals within the opening 5 minutes to settle their side. St. Flannan’s battled hard and brought it back to a one point game, with goals from Caoimhe Neylon and Cait Clancy at the interval 2.3 to 2.2.

The work rate from both sides was immense across the field. Early scores in the second half from the Colaiste looked to have them on the home straight but St. Flannans never gave in. Defensive displays from Aimee Travers, Emma O’ Connor and Chrioa Casey kept Colaiste at bay whilst at the other end scores from Cait Clancy, Neylon and Ali Donnelly kept the scoreboard ticking over. With what could only be described as apocalyptic weather, both sides were inseparable at the full time whistle. Colaiste took control in the extra time and St. Flannans kept plugging away but were unable to break down the exemplary goalkeeping from Colaiste’s Jones between the sticks, with Colaiste winning out 5.7 to 2.12.

The panel put in extremely hard work over the last number of months but ended in disappointment in not getting that elusive final spot. The girls will regroup for the upcoming Clare competition in the New Year.

Best wishes to the Colaiste as they take on either Kinsale or Clonakity In the Munster Junior B Final.
