Life at St. Flannan’s

More than a timetable

At St. Flannan’s College, sport and activities play a major role in the holistic development of every student. On the pitch, on the stage, in the lab and in the chapel, students find somewhere to belong, discover their talents and learn to work with others.

Everything we do is rooted in our Catholic ethos and guided by our values.

Where students belong

Clubs meet at lunchtime and after school, and there is a team or activity for every student who wants to take part.

01

Faith & Ethos

We gather as a school community to celebrate Mass at key moments in the year, from the Opening Year Mass in September to our Christmas Carol Service.

02

Sport

Our hurlers hold the record for Harty Cup titles, and our girls have won Munster and All-Ireland basketball titles and the 2026 Munster 7s camogie title.

03

Music & the Arts

From the music room to the art room and the stage, students are encouraged to develop their creative talents.

04

Science & Challenge

Our students have twice won the international Space Settlement Contest founded by NASA, most recently in 2025.

05

Care & Community

Rainbows peer support, Homework Club, supported by the Society of St Vincent de Paul, and a Year Head team who know every student by name.

06

Global & Green

Erasmus+ exchanges, such as our trip to Langenfeld in Germany, together with Green Schools and Transition Year trips, widen our students’ horizons.

Making friends

The lunchtime games room

Every lunchtime during the week, our purpose-built games room is open to First and Second Year students. With board games, foosball, pool and other table games, it is a relaxed place for students to mingle, get to know each other and make new friends. It is a tradition we have run for many years, and one our younger students love.

Our Catholic ethos

“I pray God’s blessing on the work of students and teachers alike. May they help each other to grow in faith, in knowledge and in Christian living.”

Fintan Monahan, Bishop of Killaloe, Patron of St. Flannan’s College

We are a Catholic, co-educational school that welcomes families of all faiths and none. We aim to imbue our community with the caring values of the Gospels, so that every activity, on the pitch, on the stage or in the classroom, helps each student grow as a whole person.
