Homework Club

Help and Progress

Homework club is offered to our students in St. Flannan’s College free of charge. It is on for an hour after school two days a week.  It is run in a supervised environment in which students are able to spend time doing their homework under the watchful eye and help of qualified teachers.

They are encouraged by the teacher on duty and given assistance when required. A light snack and a drink are provided to those that attend.

It is an essential service for this cohort of students that would otherwise have difficulty completing homework assignments for a variety of reasons.

  • The circumstances at home for some of our students prevents them from spending adequate time on their homework. At school we provide a quiet and suitable atmosphere free from distractions that may arise in the home.
  • Some students need guidance and direction from a teacher when attempting their homework. In homework club we are able to offer them this help in a small group setting and in a relaxed environment. Students can freely ask questions without feeling under any pressure.
  • Homework club gives these students an opportunity to get help and progress. Funding is needed to run a programme like this in a school.
