TY Update
Well done to all those TY’s who took part in several taster apprenticeship courses over recent weeks.16 students spent three weeks in the FET campus in Kilrush with 8 students partaking in a Construction and Groundworks course and the other 8 in a Woodwork and Resin course. 8 students spent two weeks in Kilrush also partaking in a Hair and Nails/Beauty course. All 24 students received their certs today so well done to all.
Over the last two weeks 20 of our students took part in a one-week music technology course in the FET Campus in Ennis. The students got to write, arrange, and compose a piece of music each which they presented to the other students and course presenters. All students received a cert for their participation. This has been a fantastic opportunity for our students to learn new skills in a whole range of different areas and a big thank you to all in the FET Campuses in both Ennis and Kilrush for facilitating these courses.
During the week many of our TY’s were busy helping to design and decorate the doors of individual teacher’s classrooms in what is now an annual Christmas competition and fun event in the school.
On Friday Fiona Corcoran, founder of the Greater Chernobyl Charity spoke to both TY 1 and TY 6 about the history of the charity and its current work. During the day both classes spent a number of hours uptown helping to raise money by taking part in a bucket collection.
