TY Students Represent St. Flannan’s at National Japanese Quiz

Eight TY students from St. Flannan’s College took part in the Japan Quiz at the University of Limerick last week.  This year, approximately 26 teams competed, with all participants drawn from Transition Year. Schools travelled from across the country, including Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Wexford, and Roscommon. A fantastic achievement for St. Flannan’s College saw one of our teams secure second place. Well done to Ruadhan Casey, Dean Glasgow, and Daithí O’Leary. Girls Basketball – Regional Quarter FInal

Our 1st and 2nd year girls teams made the trip down to Athea to take on Causeway Comprehensive of Kerry in the regional quarter final on Tuesday. Both teams played excellent basketball as they qualified for the regional semi-finals which are due to take place on Monday 23rd March in Athea. Boys Basketball Update.

Over the past two weeks our 1st and 2nd year boys teams have been in action trying to secure their place in the regional final on March 24th.  Our 1st year team put in a lot of hard work to come together as a team and get set up. The All Ireland Schools XC took place in Belfast on Saturday. The Minor Girls of Ailbhe C, Ailbhe O’N, Aoife, Sophie and Ellen started the day with a great race and finished 4th and were very unlucky not to win a medal. The Minor Boys were up next and Stephen took first place in a very exciting race where he was dominant throughout. The Minor Boys team of Stephen, Matthew, Oisin, Max and Sean won the Team Bronze. We would like to extend our congratulations to David, Danny, Cian and Tadhg, pictured here with their physics teacher Teresa Considine, on their victory in the IMTA Leaving Certificate Higher Level Team Maths Quiz Regional Round. Lying in 2nd place after the penultimate round the team produced an excellent final round performance to take the honours fending of stiff opposition from teams from Castletroy College and Mungret College, Limerick. To mark International Women’s Day 2026, Shannon Chamber hosted a leadership event in Shannon yesterday, bringing together female students and leaders from across Co. Clare and beyond. The event, facilitated by Marie Power, Head of Leadership Development at Uppercut, featured panel discussions with established and emerging female leaders who shared their experiences, career journeys and advice.   Our students in attendance participated through discussion and Q&A, reflecting on leadership, ambition and overcoming challenges.
