Badminton

We participated in the school’s county badminton competition this week. Our three teams, u/16 girls, u/16 boys and u/19 boys played in the Division 2 competition. The standard of badminton was very high and the teams played very competitively. Our u/16 girls’ team won all their matches and will now represent Clare in the Munster Competition in January.  Our u/16 boys team played very well but were unlucky on the day and unsuccessful in progressing further in the competition. TY Christmas Market

On Thursday, the Transition Year (TY) students were hard at work selling a variety of products at our annual TY Christmas Market in the assembly hall. This year’s market was our largest yet, with a steady stream of business as students and staff from across the school visited to buy treats and gifts. It was especially wonderful to see some parents stopping by to support the TY students. Overall, the event was a tremendous success, with every group reporting strong profits. Minor Ladies Football

The Minor Ladies Football team marked an impressive start to their North Munster Championship campaign with a resounding victory over Crescent College Comprehensive on Monday. The final scoreline read 7-10 to 0-1, a dominant performance from start to finish. The game was effectively decided in the first half, where a rapid-fire hat-trick of goals from Emma Browne set the tone for the match. Browne’s clinical finishing, combined with the team’s exceptional build-up play, left Crescent College reeling. SFC NASA/NSS space settlement design team

Our, St. Flannan’s College NASA/NSS space settlement design team visited the Vatican Observatory, “Specola Vaticana”, Castel Gandolfo, on December 7th.  The trip was initiated after a Zoom meeting, focused on asteroid composition, with Br. Guy Consolmagno SJ, physicist and director of the Vatican Observatory, The team engaged in stargazing and was joined by two teachers and four students from St. Dominic’s College in Cabra, who had previously collaborated with them. Christmas Carol Service

Christmas carol singing by candlelight at St. Flannan’s College Irish tenor Dean Power returns to his alma mater of St. Flannan’s College in Ennis next Tuesday 17th December at 7pm to perform Christmas carols in a special candlelit service in the school chapel. Members of the public are invited to the event which also will commemorate the life and contributions of the late Rev.
