World Champion

Congratulations to our TY student Ethan who is just after returning home from an unforgettable week of competition at the Taekwondo world championships. This year’s ITF Taekwondo world championships were held in Croatia and 60 countries had sent representatives to compete.  Ethan became a world champion in junior -60kg class.  He spent his week sparring in a category of 46 competitors.  On his way to glory he beat opponents from Canada, Slovenia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine Spain and Italy. Junior B Munster Camogie RD2: St. Flannan’s 3.11 – 1.14 Kinsale CS Our Junior Camogie team had an early start this morning as they travelled to Cork Camogie grounds to take on Kinsale Community School in Round 2 of the Munster Junior B Camogie competition.  Cait Clancy kicked proceedings off with a well taken point, followed by 6 points from Kinsale without reply. U19 & U16 Girls Basketball

After an excellent start to the season, this week was to be a challenging week for the U16 and U19 girls teams. Both age groups played Coláiste Muire earlier in the week in the Schools League before the U19 team travelled to Dingle to play Coláiste Íde in the Schools Cup. Although the results didn’t go in their favour, both teams gained valuable experience and will be looking to come back stronger in their next games. Read More >

The start of the year has been busy for members of our Under 16 and Under 19 teams.  For the Under 16s it has been all about getting used to working with eachother at this new age group and understanding the pressure that will be put on them in their future games for the school. Focus Ireland TY Sleep Out

On Friday the 10th of October, 90 TY students and 10 members of staff participated in the annual Shine a Light Focus Ireland sleep out.  This is a nationwide initaive where schools and other groups across the country participate in order to raise awareness about homelessness in Ireland.  Over the last numbers of years students of St Flannan’s College have raised over €20,000. We are continuing to raise funds this year.  All TY students have recieved a sponsorship form to raise funds for the Sleep out.
