Junior Clare Camogie

Round 2 of the Clare Colleges Junior A Camogie took place on Wednesday last in Clarecastle 4G. St. Flannan’s had two games facing Colaiste Muire and St. Joseph’s Tulla.

In the opening game against Colaiste Muire, St. Flannan’s started brightly and immediately set the tone with sharp passing and determined tackling. From the throw-in, the Flannan’s midfield, particularly Caoimhe Francis worked tirelessly to supply quality ball into the forward line, putting Colaiste under early pressure. In the backs, Moira Maher and Chrioa Casey were outstanding, reading the play superbly and cutting out several dangerous attacks. Their composure ensured that Colaiste found it difficult to break through for clear goal chances.

Up front, Orla Seery and Keeva Moloney were excellent throughout. Seery’s movement created space and scoring opportunities, while Moloney’s sharp finishing kept the scoreboard ticking over. The link-up play between forwards and midfield was particularly impressive, with Flannan’s maintaining intensity right to the final whistle. Overall, it was a strong team performance built on solid defending and clinical finishing.

Score:

St. Flannan’s: 3.5

Colaiste Muire: 2.0

The second game against St. Joseph’s Tulla provided St. Flannan’s with an opportunity to rotate players and try different positional combinations. Despite the changes, the team maintained their work rate and cohesion. In defence, Liagh Duddy and Aimee Travers delivered great displays, showing resilience and determination when Tulla pushed forward. Their tackling and clearances were vital in keeping Tulla at bay.

Cait Clancy proved reliable from placed balls, converting frees with confidence and consistency. In attack, Ali Donnelly was a constant threat to the Tulla goalposts, making intelligent runs and testing the defence throughout. It was another encouraging performance from St. Flannan’s, with players stepping up across the field and demonstrating the depth and versatility within the panel.

Score:

St. Flannan’s: 4.5

St. Joseph’s Tulla: 2.1

We now look forward to a semi final on the 23rd April. Opponents, venue and time TBC. Well done girls on a great day of Camogie.
