School Traffic Update for Academic Year 2025/2026

This year, Knockanean National School will temporarily move into a new building beside St Flannan’s College. This change will increase both traffic and pedestrian activity in the area.

To help reduce congestion, a dedicated bus service for Knockanean students will operate from 3 locations in the Knockanean area. This should ease peak-time traffic, but it may take a couple of weeks to settle, and some disruption is possible in the meantime.

Key Information

  • Knockanean Start Time: 9am
  • Knockanean Pick-up Times: 1.40 pm and 2.40 pm
  • In the interest of health & safety for the entire school community please do not enter the school grounds at peak times (before & after school) 8.30-9am & 3.20-4.15pm. Instead drop/pick up your child on the several approach routes to the school.
  • Appointments: If collecting your child please plan around pick-up times. Parents/Guardians will need to sign their child out in the main office and will have access to the school grounds through the main gate.
  • The front area of the boarding school is now a designated parking area for Knockanean staff vehicles. It can no longer be used as a drop-off or pick-up areafor St. Flannan’s Collegestudents.
  • Exceptions: Students with physical access needs may continue usual arrangements.
  • Early Drop-Off: Allow 10 –20 mins extra in the morning to avoid traffic congestion. St Flannan’s College will open from 8am to allow parents/guardians to drop students earlier.
  • Pedestrian Access Points: Across from Apple Green, across from Day Break and adjacent to bus stop (front of school). Students are not permitted to use the main gate as a pedestrian access point

Student Parking:

Any student wishing to drive to school must contact Mr. Donnellan before the school year begins to request a driving permit.

If approved, you will be issued with a parking space if one is available.

No student is allowed to park on school grounds without prior notification to Mr. Donnellan and a valid permit.

Please remain alert to increased traffic and use pedestrian access where possible. Thank you for your cooperation and support on this matter- it is very much appreciated.
