Senior Ladies Football
St. Flannan’s Senior Ladies Footballers have qualified for the Senior A County Final, after beating Coláiste Muire on Thursday.
An early Neasa Meaney goal, set the tone for a young St. Flannan’s team. A free from Neasa Meaney pushed the lead to 4 before Coláiste responded with 2 points of their own. Cáit Clancy made an impact upon her introduction mid way through the first half, kicking an excellent point. A 24th minute goal from the boot of Mylie Treacy, after great work from Kate Dowling, pushed St. Flannan’s into a 7 point lead. The half time score read 2:04 to 0:03.
Coláiste came out firing in the second half, with 2 quick points and a goal by the 35th minute. However, this was to be their last score of the game. Goals from Cáit Clancy, and 1-1 from the outstanding Tara Carey, ensured there was only going to be one winner. A 10 point victory on the day was deserved, as each one of the 19 players who featured playing vital roles in ensuring we will be in a Senior A County Final in the new year.
