Tomorrow, Friday 12th December, we will hold a Christmas Jumper / Non-Uniform Day in aid of St. Vincent de Paul. Cost: €2 per pupil. Prizes will be awarded for the best Christmas jumpers.
Tomorrow is also the final day of our SVP Toy Appeal. Each pupil received a token with the age of a child to buy a gift for. We are accepting new or unused/recycled toys, which will be collected in class tomorrow morning.

The students in the College are preparing for our annual Carol Service but we must also acknowledge that in November two Masses were celebrated in our chapel by Fr. Tom Ryan – our school chaplain for sixth year students in memory of their departed loved ones.

A massive congratulations to all members of our U16 and U19 Boys Basketball teams who won their Regional Final in Galway City last week. This victory for both squads secured their places in the All Ireland League playoffs. These playoff games will take place in early January.

This week sees the final week of our TY taster courses in Kilrush. Twenty-four TY students had the chance to experience stonework and grounds work, woodwork and resin, and a beauty course. St. Flannan’s College and Colaiste Muire faced off in the Munster Junior B semi final on Friday and it took extra time to separate the sides. From the opening whistle, Colaiste set the tempo with 2 goals within the opening 5 minutes to settle their side. St. Flannan’s battled hard and brought it back to a one point game, with goals from Caoimhe Neylon and Cait Clancy at the interval 2.3 to 2.2.

St. Flannan’s Senior Ladies Footballers have qualified for the Senior A County Final, after beating Coláiste Muire on Thursday. An early Neasa Meaney goal, set the tone for a young St. Flannan’s team. A free from Neasa Meaney pushed the lead to 4 before Coláiste responded with 2 points of their own. Cáit Clancy made an impact upon her introduction mid way through the first half, kicking an excellent point. Our U16 and U19 girls basketball teams took on Tarbert in this week’s regional quarter finals. The U16s put in a strong first half before Tarbert pulled away after the break to take the game and end the season for this group. The U19s had a slow start in their game but found their scoring touch in the second quarter and, despite late pressure, held on for a hard-earned win to earn their spot in the regional semi final against Laurel Hill Coláiste on Wednesday.

Our 1st & 2nd year girls participated in workshops today facilitated by Judith from the Shona Project. 1st year girls worked on the theme of kindness and goal setting. Our 2nd year girls learned about positive mindset and confidence. The girls behaviour was exemplary and they seemed to thoroughly enjoy the workshop. Well done girls.
