Toy Appeal

Our SVP group are running their annual toy appeal next week in aid of SVP . Each pupil in the school received a token today with a specific child and age to donate a present to. There are many many children and families in our community this year who are struggling and we are hoping that St. Flannan’s College can help brighten their Christmas so that everyone has a very merry Christmas. ATII Winners 2025

In April 2025 secondary students all over Ireland took part in the 10th edition of the translation competition organised by the ATII (Association of Translators and Interpreters Ireland). Students translated set texts from various languages into English or from English into Irish. We are delighted to inform you that two of our students won the 1st Prize: Darwisy (6th Year student) for his translation from Japanese and Zuzanna (now in 1st Year in UL) for her translation from Polish. TY Students Explore Skilled Trades in Kilrush

Some of our TY students are getting a fantastic hands-on learning experience this week as they take part in taster courses in Groundwork & Stonework and Woodwork & Resin in Kilrush. These practical sessions give students the chance to explore potential career pathways, develop new skills, and gain confidence through real, industry-based learning. Chess team

Our chess club runs every Wednesday at lunchtime under the guidance of Ms. O’Gorman and Mr. D Kelly. Last week our students took part in a chess tournament in Kilfinane in Limerick with 5 schools from Clare, Limerick and Tipp competing. There were 23 teams with 93 individuals involved. We took 12 first year students (3 teams of 4) with us, with one team finishing third overall, and Elvis  finishing third in the individual standings. Both are through to the Irish Chess finals. St. Flannan’s College produced an impressive performance to defeat Laurel Hill Colaiste in the Munster Junior B Camogie RD 3 at UL North Campus today. From the opening whistle, Flannans set the tempo with sharp tackling, accurate passing and relentless work rate across the field. Early scores settled nerves, and the girls never looked back as they built a commanding lead by half time.
