Flannan’s 1st Year Girls Secure Second Win in Clare Schools LGFA

The 1st Year girls’ LGFA panel from St. Flannan’s College secured their second victory in the Clare Schools competition on Friday, overcoming a strong Ennistymon Community School side in Lahinch. Flannan’s started brightly, with inside forwards Alli Donnelly and Ellie Sheedy combining for six early points. Wing forward Sarah Brodie added to the momentum with two well-taken goals, giving Flannan’s a commanding lead. Stepping into Shakespeare

Last November, our Leaving Certs had the opportunity to experience King Lear at the Dean Crowe Theatre, Athlone. Performed by the Gaeity School of Acting, this well known tragedy was brought to life. The follow on Q&A session gave our students a greater understanding of the play’s key themes and characters. Our Junior Cycle students did not miss out! They recently experienced The Merchant of Venice live. This time, The Gaeity School of Acting took a different approach.  The Literacy Committee (Ms. Cregan, Ms. di Francesco, Ms. Durcan, Ms. Kelly and Ms. Ward under the leadership of Ms. Culleton,) is proud to announce that St. Flannan’s College has been selected by Children’s Books Ireland as one of just six post-primary schools nationwide to participate in the “Everyone a Reader” programme this year.   Through the gifting of 250 books, creative and practical supports, as well as visits from a designated ‘Champion of Reading’, students will be empowered to read more, enjoy reading more and read more widely.   Keep an eye on future updates as the programme unfolds! Harty Cup Semi-Final

At 13:30 in Kilmallock on Wednesday, the atmosphere was immense. Both schools had brought large crowds to the game, and it had all the feels of an edgy Harty semi-final before throw-in.  What followed however, was a very one-sided game which took all energy out of the crowd by the end of the third quarter.  Gaelcholaiste Mhuire are a very young team and showed glimpses of really good play, cutting the Flannan’s defense open on a number of occasions, particularly early in the second half.
