The 1st Year girls’ LGFA panel from St. Flannan’s College secured their second victory in the Clare Schools competition on Friday, overcoming a strong Ennistymon Community School side in Lahinch. Flannan’s started brightly, with inside forwards Alli Donnelly and Ellie Sheedy combining for six early points. Wing forward Sarah Brodie added to the momentum with two well-taken goals, giving Flannan’s a commanding lead. Last November, our Leaving Certs had the opportunity to experience King Lear at the Dean Crowe Theatre, Athlone. Performed by the Gaeity School of Acting, this well known tragedy was brought to life. The follow on Q&A session gave our students a greater understanding of the play’s key themes and characters. Our Junior Cycle students did not miss out! They recently experienced The Merchant of Venice live. This time, The Gaeity School of Acting took a different approach. At 13:30 in Kilmallock on Wednesday, the atmosphere was immense. Both schools had brought large crowds to the game, and it had all the feels of an edgy Harty semi-final before throw-in. What followed however, was a very one-sided game which took all energy out of the crowd by the end of the third quarter.
